Why do each of these well-known public entertainment figures deserve the illustrious title of Sexiest Vegetarian for 2010? In addition to their obvious good looks and pop culture status, PETA says that by following a vegan diet, Bob Harper and Olivia Wilde are each responsible for sparing the lives of 100 animals annually. Here are some more details highlighting why that they deserve to savor their current reign(s).

Olivia Wilde:

    * Gracing the covers of countless magazines such as Organic Beauty Magazine, GQ, and Elle, the blue-eyed beauty says that she makes a conscious effort to channel her dollars toward purchases that support worthy industries, citing that “this is a huge reason why I have chosen to adopt a Vegan diet…I don’t eat food that comes from animals.”

    * The daughter of an Irish journalist and a 60 Minutes producer, Wilde’s literary roots paved the way for her early awareness of social and political causes, prompting her to serve on the advisory council of the youth voter organization 18 in ‘08 and work alongside of fellow actors like Kal Penn to campaign on behalf of President Obama.

    * Edging out fellow vegan and House cast member Lisa Edelstein for PETA’s sexiest vegetarian title, Wilde maintains her sleek physique by embracing a healthy attitude toward her diet. Her favorite tactics include never using a scale, banning the word “fat” from her vocabulary and engaging in daily workouts that involve a combination of outdoor hiking, yoga, karate and spinning.

In an announcement that surprised no one, Walt Disney Studios confirmed today that “Tron Legacy” will have a significant presence at this year’s Comic-Con International 2010.

Oscar winner Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Michael Sheen and Bruce Boxleitner will join the filmmakers in a Hall H panel that will kick off the con on Thursday, July 21 at 11:15 AM. The studio promises that footage from the December release will be previewed in 3-D as well as some “special surprise guests.” It’s worth noting, notoriously press-shy Daft Punk have provided an original score for “Legacy.”

The annual San Diego pop culture event has already featured “Legacy’ twice before, including a surprise screening of a concept test the filmmakers used to convince the studio to greenlight a sequel to the original 1984 film back in July of 2008. In fact, director Joe Kosinski, producers Sean Bailey and Steven Lisbeger have all gone on record that the reaction to the footage at Comic-Con from the fans in attendance sealed the deal.

Last year, Bridges, Hedlund, Wilde, Kosinski and Lisberger hosted a packed panel, but had no new footage to show as the picture was still in production. Additionally, Disney created a wealth of buzz by re-creating the fictional Flynn’s Arcade from the franchise with 1980s video games and a secret room which revealed a real-life model of the new lightcycle from the film. You can check out photos of the cycle here.

The studio also announced there will be an interactive “Tron” booth on the convention floor with a sneak peek at merchandise including toys, electronics, collectibles, apparel and the new “Tron: Evolution” video game. Exclusive Comic-Con products are also promised.

“Tron Legacy” opens nationwide and on IMAX Dec. 17, 2010. Look for complete Comic-Con coverage on HitFix beginning next month.

House will be minus Thirteen when it returns next season.

Olivia Wilde is taking time off from the Fox hit to shoot a starring role in the big-budget sci-fi Western Cowboys & Aliens.

“Olivia will be there at the very beginning of the season, and then she will not be there for a period of time,” explains executive producer Katie Jacobs.

Production on the Jon Favreau-helmed Cowboys — which is set to get under way next month and continue through the summer — is expected to overlap with season 7 of House by at least two months. The film also stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Sam Rockwell. (Fun fact: Lost boy Damon Lindelof co-wrote the script with Fringe exec producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.)

“She had this opportunity and she was really excited about it,” says Jacobs. “We’re very proud of her and very happy for her.”

The seeds of Thirteen’s departure were planted in last night’s season finale when, in the final moments of the episode, the Huntington’s-afflicted doc announced that she was taking a leave of absence from Princeton Plainsboro.

“The two things — the dates that she was going to be away and the story line [we wanted to tell] — worked out,” says Jacobs. “When the story unfolds, it will [all make] sense.”

Dreamworks has revealed the official plot synopsis for Jon Favreau’s upcoming big screen adaptation of Cowboys and Aliens. Since the film is based on the comic book series written by Fred Van Lente and Andrew Foley, we had some idea, but now the full plot details have been revealed.

Official Plot Synopsis:

1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he’s been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

Wilde will be playing a tattooed stripper with a Betty Page hairdo who’s also the mistress to a term-limited butter-carving champion (Modern Family’s Ty Burrell). If he’s the Bill Clinton of this tale, then his long-suffering wife (Jennifer Garner) is the Hillary Clinton, poised to continue her husband’s butter-carving legacy, only to find her path thwarted by a young African American upstart (Yara Shahidi).

Wilde fills a role that Kate Hudson had originally been courted for, before the actress settled on the Ginnifer Goodwin romcom Something Borrowed instead. Production Weekly erroneously reported this week that Alicia Silverstone was cast as the stripper; instead, she’ll be playing Shahidi’s adoptive mother.

It’ll be a busy summer for the 26-year-old Wilde, who will also be filming Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens during her summer hiatus from House and recently shot down rumors that she’d been added to the cast of the next Bond film. Wilde will next be seen on the big screen this winter in Paul Haggis’s thriller The Next Three Days and the highly anticipated Tron Legacy.

When Blake Mycoskie created TOMS shoes in 2006, people thought he was crazy.

The concept behind it wasn’t necessarily the most lucrative for him. He decided that for every shoe you buy, TOMS would donate one to a child in need. And so began their motto “One For One.”

He was obviously on to something, because three years later, the company has continued to grow tremendously. Through their sales, they have been able to bring over 600,000 pairs of shoes to developing countries like Rwanda and Ethiopia.

Why shoes you might ask? Many children in these areas grow up barefoot. This puts them at risk of soil-transmitted diseases causing physical and cognitive harm and even hinders them from being able to attend schools and which also requires shoes.

Yesterday, they celebrated “One Day Without Shoes”, and had 1/4 million people spending their day without shoes in over 1,600 events around the world to raise awareness about the movement.

I joined Mycoskie and actress Olivia Wilde walking barefoot in Venice, Calif. to chat about the event and why supporting the cause around TOMS is so important.

“I’ve been wearing TOMS shoes since they came out,” Wilde told me while marching barefoot. “They are my favorite shoes.” As for the event, the “House” star said, “It’s a creative way to raise awareness and I am really proud to be here.”
